With standard SAMMI reamer 7 WSM with VLD my C.O.A.L is

Acquired some Berger 168 VLDs and when they touch the lands of my new Brux bbl with standard SAMMI throat C.O.A.L is 3.000. Magazine boxx is 3.011. Would there be any advantage to having the throat opened up ?

I'm not familiar with the 7 WSM but if the bullet doesn't protrude back into the case and the gun shoots good I wouldn't mess with it. Sounds like you have the best of both worlds because the ammo will feed from the mag and still jam the lands. How does it shoot?

If it shoots well touching the lands, I would leave it alone. You'll need to chase the lands to keep contact as the throat errods, and you have some room in the magazine to allow that right now. If you open the throat now, you'll have more case capacity NOW, but you'll not be able to chase the lands and stay in the magazine later.

Case capacity isn't generally an issue, so if you can touch the lands AND feed from the mag, that's a good thing.

I get 2950 FPS with the 168's and have plenty of room in the case using either H1000 or 4831SC
