Wipe-Out Brushless Bore Cleaner

Used it for the past few years. It works very well, but a little slow. Maybe wouldn't use it by itself for cleaning at a match, but I just shoot recreationally and varmints these days, so a little slow is OK.

Thanks for the reply Joe, I ordered some and I think I will like it due to the fact I won't be using a brush!

A companion product called 'Wipe-out' Accelerator is supposed to speed up the solvent action of Wipe-out and, the liquid product 'Patch-out'. I have used patch-out for some time now and it works well but I also find it to be slow. I purchased the Accelerator recently and have cleaned one barrel (very low fouling) with a three relay match on it plus about 8 foulers and I did seem to get a little more copper on the first patch without having to wait my usual 10 minutes of soak. It did foam a bit as described....I can't say that it definitely improved or sped up the process as I have not enough experience with it yet. Others have reported (web postings) to find it useful.

I do not clean at a match so the time frame would not be that important to be honest but as long as it works even if I would have to wait 24 hours would be fine as long as it does a good job cleaning.

I had used it some in the past. I found it slow but observed that the accelerator really did help quite a bit in speeding things up; at least as far as copper removal went.

A few guys in our club use it exclusively and swear by it. They clean every 250 or so rounds and are getting amazing accuracy life out of their barrels. After watching them consistently shoot well and hearing their experience with it, I have switched back to it and am happy so far.

Great response thanks. Is it necessary to plug one end of barrel to be sure that it is full of the cleaner?

I love the stuff, my heavily fouled barrel shot beautiful after using it, but it did take a total of 4 applications to get all the fouling out (I let it sit overnight on all the apps). Now use it about every 100 rounds or so, 1 app, let sit overnite, patch it in the morning, good to go.

It did nothing for me. One of those "if it sounds too good to be true"...bore cleaner that you dont have to scrub????? Come on!!! That is about like self cutting grass or self raking leaves. When you find those, let all of us know.
Anytime you have to go buy a "back up" product to "help" it work, you got the wrong chemical. Three things positively work in a bore...the first one, Sweets 7.62 will etch the bore if you are not careful. The other two are Shooters Choice MC-7 {the slow one} and JB Bore Cleaner {the fast one.}

works for me, but Sweets is the best JB no 1,2,3, whoever you talk too, I really like Wipeout. I use the Tactical and Regular and sweets and JB all mixed together then some Hoppes to wash it all down

Love the stuff. But I'm in no hurry. Swab the bore when I get up in the morning. Run a couple patches thru in the evening. Rea
Ply before bed, same regime for a couple of days. Not a lot of back and forth with a cleaning rod. Let the chemicals do the work.

I use the Patch Out with Accelerator after using Ed's Red on a brush for carbon. The P/O is one of the best copper cleaners out there, IME, with a bore scope. It's only fair on carbon and I've yet to find a magic carbon cleaner that works without some agitation from brushing. The old Ed's Red formula works as well as anything I've seen for carbon but once you clear away the carbon, IME, the P/O works great on the copper. It's a simple process of a few strokes with Ed's Red...patch it out...then apply the P/O on a patch with Accelerator..let set for 15-30 minutes..patch dry. I've heard second hand from someone that spoke with the mfg, that the P/O with Accelerator, only works for a short time..like 30 minutes, then does nothing further. In match barrels that I use...It's been all I need. In barrels that tend to be copper mines, a repeat application or two, may be needed.

I've done the comparison test, where you leave a weighed bullet in different cleaners for varying amounts of time and re-weigh. The only thing that this test found to be measurably better at copper removal was KG12...which I don't care for, only because of the patch color indication is brownish instead of typical blue or green for copper.

FWIW, I've done the same sort of test on ss barrel stubs. Sweets won't etch the bore below the fluid level, but most cleaners that contain ammonia do cause corrosion at the fluid level, after about 24 hours. Patch Out does not contain ammonia and did not do this.

I took a tip from Tony Boyer and mix the wipe out and accelerator 50/50. It allows enough time for the cleaner to be effective between relays and also can be left in overnight. I use a nylon iosso brush, let it set a bit and then a couple or three patches and all is good. I have been very happy with the results.

Has anyone used this product and if so any input?

I have used it for a number of years and really like it. In my match guns I tend to use it after a match, usually add in the Accelerator, then give it a shot before going to bed. Patch out in the morning and head to the range. What I did to make it easier to use was to take delrin bore guides, and drill a 3/8" hole counterbored in the rear. The inside of the flexible clear tubing fits snugly on the nozzle of the can and tightly inside the counter bored hole, making a mess free applicator. Then I put a large mouth plastic bottle over the muzzle to catch the foam, etc. from the bore.

I've used the Wipe Out products for well over 10 years. I prefer Patch Out and always use it with Accelerator. I have a good friend who owns a reloading supply store He was told years ago, by the folks who make it that PO+AC will do everything it's going to do in about a half hour. My procedure after shooting a match on Saturday (approx 125 rounds) is to clean on Sunday morning. I wet a patch with Patch out and Accelerator and short stroke it through the barrel. This takes out the majority of the loose, heavy fouling. I follow immediately with another patch with the same and allow it to sit a minimum of 1/2 hour, but usually longer depending on what I'm doing. I push a few dry patches through until they are coming out nearly clean and repeat the process. It usually takes a couple of applications to get all the copper. I've not had any trouble with carbon with one exception in a .222. And I do, have a bore scope.

BTW- I never use a bronze brush and only occasionally use a fiber brush.

It's good stuff. I've used most of the popular cleaners and not found anything as good as Patch Out w/Accelerator.
