Wind flag transport box finally finshed

I finally finished my flag transport box. I bought 6 flags from David Halblom from Flying Fish Fundamentals and I wanted something safe to store them in while traveling. I wanted it big enough that I did not have to tear down the flags each time.

The box is made of 3/4" plywood all the way around. The divider is 3/8 plywood. It's 26" long, 19" wide, and 22" deep. I have 2" foam in the top of the lid to lightly press down on the tail of the flag to keep it from rocking. The flags set stem down into a holder that has 1/4" wide "troughs" so that the weight of the flag is resting on the cross support. The stem actually goes into the brace, and this keeps the flag from not only rocking, but from moving side to side. I created a side area that holds my flag stands, and a seperate area that I keep the ball weights in. The ball weights are stored in a metal tennis ball can. I cut the tennis balls in half, and placed the weighted balls in side the 2 halfs of the tennis ball, and placed them back inside the can. Each can cames with 4 tennis balls, and I have 3 weighted balls in each can.

If I was doing this again (and I just might be) I would use a 1x1 frame, and a 1/4" plywood skin. It would be much easier to load in and out of the truck.

I have to say that those Flying Fish wind flags were VERY INSTRAMENTAL in me doing so good in the NBRSA and the IBS state championship this past weekend. The winds were brutal on Sunday going up to 40+ gusts.
