SELLING Winchester Model 54 bolt action

This is a 30-06 with 3-9x40 scope Vortex Crossfire ll. Made in 1930 the serial number is 31951A. The Model 54s were made between 1925 and 1936, and only 50145 rifles were made. This is the first commercial rifle ever made and the predecessor is the great Winchester Model 70. I am the second owner of the rifle. It weighs 7 3/4 lbs without the scope and 8 3/4 lbs with scope. It has a 24 inch Nichel Steel barrel and has the original two leaf rear Lyman sight. The barreled action has the patina of a rifle nearly 100 years old. There is no rust. Following the lead of the Mauser 98 and Springfield rifles, the Model 54 also has a controlled round feed action. The rifle has a two stage trigger. The two position safety was modified so as to accept a scope and a brown Decelerator recoil pad was added. The checkering is still very nice as the overall condition of the stock. Following European styling at the time, the rifle has a Schnabel forend, which is seen on the current Model 70 Featherweight. The rifle is capable of 1 to 1 1/2 inch three shot groups at 100 yards. Price with scope is $850. Contact Mel Hoover
