Winchester Mod 70 "The Radio Rifle" Who knew

Ran across this and never herd of it so thought i share. Who else never herd of this.

IF the radio is a transistor radio, as one of the photos implies, then recoil damage wouldn't be a major problem, but 1955 seems a couple of years early for a transistor radio by a non-radio manufacturer.

My father was and early version of a Millwright in 1952 and we lived on a modest one earner income but we had a TV. All the kids came to our house to watch the first Super man episode. Dad loved watching base ball and the Saturday night fights.

Where did the the radio get power from?
1955 portable radio had a 90 Volt battery

I will guess the NRA museum display at Bass Pro in Springfield MO. Last time I went there they had a bunch if M70s.

I believe its at the National Firearms Museum at NRA headquarters here in Fairfax, Virginia. Not far from me. I might have to take a trip 1 day just to check out the history.
