I bought some Winchester brass for my .223. It is an older Remington 700 BDL heavy barrel I bought new in the late 70’s. This brass was hard to get the bolt closed on when new. Some of it has been fired twice and just neck sized and still tight. I full length resized and that didn’t help. I bought a body die and that seems to set it back enough. Is there something about the Winchester brass doing this? I would think the chamber would be loose enough to not be a problem with standard brass. Would some other brand, like Lapau) work better maybe? I don't have another brand to try at this point.
I had a gunsmith look at my gun and he did not see anything in the chamber. Length is also not a problem as I have shortened them to 1.755 and by my measurement have .015 to spare.
Should I use the body die on all of them or chuck them? If I do the body die, should I anneal before or does it matter?
