Winchester brass tight

I bought some Winchester brass for my .223. It is an older Remington 700 BDL heavy barrel I bought new in the late 70’s. This brass was hard to get the bolt closed on when new. Some of it has been fired twice and just neck sized and still tight. I full length resized and that didn’t help. I bought a body die and that seems to set it back enough. Is there something about the Winchester brass doing this? I would think the chamber would be loose enough to not be a problem with standard brass. Would some other brand, like Lapau) work better maybe? I don't have another brand to try at this point.

I had a gunsmith look at my gun and he did not see anything in the chamber. Length is also not a problem as I have shortened them to 1.755 and by my measurement have .015 to spare.

Should I use the body die on all of them or chuck them? If I do the body die, should I anneal before or does it matter?

No biggie. Min chamber, max brass - tight fit. All within SAAMI tolerances.

Just bump the shoulders and live happily ever after. In fact, you will need to bump the shoulders every 3 to 5 firings anyways.

I shoot a 223 and neck size with a Lee collet die. When the cases get a bit stiff to chamber, I bump using a Redding body die.

It's all good. As for annealing, that is entirely up to you. I have shot my Win brass over a dozen times and they still work just fine.

YMMV

I had some 22 250 Win brass that was difficult to chamber in one particular 22 250 rifle. I switches to Remington and had no problem. The Win brass worked fine in another 22 250 rifle. Probably a tight chamber in rifle no. 1.
