Winchester brass batch WSO3006SFU

Just bought 50 Winchester cases bag from a fellow from my local hunters club ; batch number WSO3006SFU.Anyone could please assist and advise how old the brass is? From my readings it appears that older Winchester brass is better qua!lity ? Your comments are much appreciated.thank you !

What color is the bag? I believe the older blue bags were thought to be of better quality. The blue bagged stuff is what I have and seems decent when I weight sort it.

From the FWIW Dept. ; I have a custom F-Open , . Mosin-Nagant , and ALL of my "Match Brass" is Seven to Ten year old Winchester 7.62 x 54r brass . I have shot 199 - 13x with this rifle at the SWN , so I know there is nothing wrong with the "old" Win Brass .

I had some winchester blue bag 223 i bought when i was 16 (so probably 2007ish). Once I started going down the rabbit hole I found the neck thickness consistency to be terrible (2-3 thou discrepancies from side to side).

No matter what you're told about this bag of brass, it's a guess at best. Just prep it, reload it, and shoot it.

I've been reloading Winchester and Remington cases for a very long time. I could never tell the difference in performance between the two or in different lots over the years but I not a benchrest shooter.

However, it was rare that I purchased a bag of 100 Winchester cases that a least 4 or more didn't have manufacturing defects, i.e., cold laps in the shoulder area, split necks, split shoulders all unusable. After culling the defective cases, the remaining cases performed well enough, and I often got 15 to 18 reloads without annealing.

Biggest problem with Win brass is inconsistency in weight/capacity. As noted, it is packaged in bags and its often found with bent necks that have to be straightened prior to reloading. If sorted it is good brass. The best? Probably not but it shoots.

Ive been very pleased with the brass from the blue bag and range pick ups that are from that era. I have not used any of the newer stuff so I cannot comment. If I could not find or afford Lapua the Winchester and Lake City were my second choice.

My 1st 6mm Competition Match barrel I shot until it was long in the tooth. 300 pieces of blue bag Winchester .243 brass.
20+ firings on that brass. This cartridge us a Wildcat and gas to be fireformed. It moves the shoulder up and changes the shoulder angle to 31 degrees. I lost probably 10% to headcase separationover the course of the life of the barrel. Case capacity in the Winchester brass is all over the place. Load it and shoot it.
