I am trying to find out if i can convert my model 54 Winchester with a wing type safety on top of the bolt, to a model 70 type three position safety. If so what is needed to do this. this would be used as a hunting gun. does anyone have any info on this ? also i have been told that this model 54 has a downfall of not having any place for gases to escape... im not sure what is meant by this ? i am thinking that they were talking about the hole in the front of the action... like on all my other rifles..... any info on this matter anyone ? thanks for looking.
