I have a Winchester 101 o/u and the stock butt plate has mildew on it. Looks like a straight forward small project. Take the plate off and use a brush to clean it up.
My question is what to use to clean it and prevent the mildew from coming back. I know this Georgia humidity is the culprit. It is in a shotgun sleeve in the house or in my safe that has a golden rod but was for decades in my father’s safe in his basement. No golden rod. Clorox should kill the mildew but I want to make sure not to damage the butt plate.
Any experience or thoughts would be much appreciated.
