win mod70 heavy varmint--barrel twist??

I am going to shoot Camp Perry this year and need to know if the win mod70 Heavy Varmint with 26" barrel was a 1-10 or 1-12 twist (circa 1993).This will determine if I shoot 185's or 210's. Thanks for all of your help. Steve

The 1 in 10 twist is the one you want if you want to shoot bullets heavier than 168gr. You might be able to get by with the 185 Bergers in a 1 in 12 twist but anything heavier you will need the 1 in 10 twist.

Use a cleaning rod and a tight patch, place a tape flag on the rod and slowly run the rod in and out. Use a tape measure to see how many inches are required for one complete turn.
