Win 70 stock help please.

Hi guys: I bought my first Model 70 barreled action. I’m setting up to make a stock for it. It looks to be a post 64 short action. It came missing a middle screw and a slightly crushed internal mag box. I’m trying to figure out the depth for the stock cuts. I’m not sure if the bottom metal is parallel to the bottom of the action or angled slightly.
Can somebody give me the thickness of the stock for the three screws from the bottom of the action inlet to the top of the bottom metal? Basically the thickness of the wood between the two?
This would be much appreciated!
Josh

Josh , I just measured 2 LONG action post 64 push feed stocks . Front action screw wood distance is 15/16" middle is 31/32" to 1" rear tang is 1 1/4 (1.25)" .
Both of these are average and both were very similar. They had bottom aluminum metal that was inlet .
I can take some pics after I have coffee

Thanks Gary. I appreciate the help! I looked at PT&G bottom metal last night. That would be the easy way out. Just go with the DBM. It’s another $200 tho.:(

Are you going sporter ? I know the location of a very beautiful piece of maple that should fit that .

No. I might do another stock like the one I just finished. Prone stock but with a twist. I’m scratching out some sketches right now.
You were supposed to dig thru your pile of metal and put that maple to good use! I’m still waiting for pics. It’s too fancy for this gun!;)
I bought a hunk of bumblebee laminate for this one. I liked a stock I saw that was made out of it so I wanted to try it.

I started on it with the Winchester 70 Hart 257 Roberts . The stainless 27" sporter barrel looked a little out of place in the classic design . So I stopped and went back to the Mauser or Springfield idea . I'd like to do the classic in 7mm or 257 with a blue barrel and about 24-25" max

There ya go! I knew you would find something nice to accent that wood. It’s better in your hands. More knowledge and experience will do it justice! I’d woulda just ruined it!;)
