Wilson trimmer?

Researching trimmers for my 30br brass and am looking at Wilsons trimmers at Brownells but am wondering what version to go with ? Should I go with the all Wilson version or one of the Sinclair/Wilson version? Also how necessary is the stand and holder?

My current trimmer is a Forster and was thinking the Wilson might be more accurate and repeatable .

Thanks

I have the Wilson case trimmer and I really don't see difference and it seems their both the same design and done by Wilson. So, take your choice and you'll get the same results. IMHO. I like the Wilson type trimmers as I prefer how they trim the mouth square to the case body axis, which is hard to get that with trimmers that hold the case by its base.

The Wilson base is nice, but I done use one for my trimmer as I simply clamp it to the edge of my workbench when using it, then put it away when I'm done. But, I haven't used my Wilson trimmer in years since I got my Giraud trimmer as it sames me so much time and does just as good a job at trimming to length.

The Sinclair's just have clicks when adjusted. The Wilson has marks and allen lock down.
I have a Wilson in a wood vice on the end of my harbor freight table. set it, lock it down and get busy.
With 6bra and 30br I don't use it much ....

I have the Wilson trimmer but I do the same as you I have the bench from Harbor freight with the vice on the end

I really like my Wilson with the micrometer adjustment. All my cases come out dead on the same. I also added the power feed attachment and use a cordless drill.

I have a separate Wilson and a fired case holder for different calibers , I set um and forget um
Recommend you order them from Brunos and save some $$$

I have used both, one advantage with the Forster is their 3-1 cutter that also chamfers inside and out. Saves time when compared to the Wilson.

The Triway trimmer from Giraud is also good along with the Trimit II. I have used these also but had problems getting a consistent chamfer so went back to the Wilson (by which time I had sold the Forster).

I have a couple Wilson’s. Haven’t had a Forster but I’ve had other manual trimmers. The Wilson has been more consistent in holding its setting than the others for me. I haven’t got the micrometer but if I only had one trimmer I think it would be very handy and save a lot of time. Also drilled holes in the base of one of my Wilson’s . Now I can screw it down to about anything. That’s handy.

I’ve been assembling a menagerie of trimmers to do the same thing.

I have the Wilson / Sinclair version with the upgraded carbide cutter, Sinclair hand crank, and Sinclair stand. I really like mine and it works perfectly for me giving me precise case lengths.

I "C" Clamp mine at the bottom of the base to the loading bench when trimming then store it when not in use giving me more room on the surface of the bench.

Besides the high quality, the feature I like the most about the design of this trimmer is that you don't use "pilots" inside the neck thus scaring the interior of the neck.
