Wilson Neck Die

I bought a neck die and didn't get the base for it. Does someone have dim. for it so I could make one? I know I can buy one but I can make it if have the dim. I do more reading than posting here but lots of info. Thanks

This may be a silly question but do you think the die won't work correctly if the base isn't the same specs as the factory version? The die is 1" in diameter, pretty easy to go from there.

Tightneck I don't know. I've never used this type of die so I'm in new water so to speak. I don't really how to use it correctly so I was hoping to have something as close to original as possible. Someone said to turn it upside down to size and right side up to deprime and push out the case. But if the deprime rod is tight in the cape of the die far enough out to deprime it how can you push the case in deep enough to size it? I'm lost here but I want to learn how to use it. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Do you have a lathe?? If so I can send you a photo and dimensions of the base and an addition to the base that makes it even better,my own design).

Don't make it more complicated than it is. You insert the case into the die,the end with the decapping pin). Set it on the base with the case up. Push the case into the die with an arbor,or you can even hammer it in with a plastic mallet I suppose). Turn the die over. Set it in the base. Push the case out with the arbor. The decapper will automatically punch out the primer.

The base is nothing more than a round piece of steel with a two-diameter hole thru it. Anybody with a lathe can make one.

If still confused I can post some photos. Has to be tomorrow cause it's dark.

Here are a couple of photos thanks to the wonder of flash photography.

Photo one : Wilson Die, Die with case inserted, Die on base, case pushed into die.

Turn die over

Photo two. Die on base ready to push out and decap.

Voila!!!

BTW, this does not show my addition to the base.

Yes Cheechako I have a lathe. I'm still a little puzzled about the decapping pin...does it float in the die? Yes if I had something to go by I'd make one. Thanks

Yes, the decapping pin floats in the die, more or less. It is held by two fiber plugs that allow it to slide up and down but not fall out. They are adjustable for tension by the two allen screws on the side of the die.

I will send you dimensions and description of the base and my added piece. You can make both on your lathe in an hour or so. Send me your e-mail.

Ray thanks for being so helpful to a "novice wilson user" I did find something else wrong with my die but that can be fixed. Regular setscrews holding the decapping pin. Now it's starting to make sense how it all works. I knew that I wasn't totally dumb dumb dumb. Thanks for taking your time and helping. Thanks to all who helped.
