Wilson FL resizing die with decap punch removed on pulled live ammo question

Hi there,
I'd like to ask you about a "complication" I encountered when I need to resize necks of live primer ammo (300 PRC, with the die mentioned in the title) after pulling the bullets. Even if the decap punch is screwed completedly in to the main nut, the pin protrudes too far in/out the die and can't be removed from stem basically. That, obviously, leads to punch out live primers which I would prefer not to do that. But if i remove decap punch, it also means to remove inner nut with it, which is in contact with bushing. Do you think It's OK to use the die with both decap punch and black nut assembly removed, just with top nut screwed which will be in contact with bushing? Or should I maybe put the black nut alone above the bushing? Any other ideas? Thanks in advace and have a nice day!
T.

you should be able to remove the entire decapping assembly and still retain the bushing nut

Thanks! Well I'm able to do that, but after doing so I would either have black jam nut "floating" same as bushing, which I'm not sure is OK, or the whole assembly nut pushing straight on the bushing. Also not ideal (at least I think so) as It has round, not flat base.

not exactly following what you are saying. Any pics of the parts?

this is decap assembly screwed into the upper part at maximum possible depth and to push on bushing inside and still the pin is protruding from the bottom of the die

Can you not remove the decap from the top?

I'm not sure what do you mean, if you're thinking of the decap pin removal it's one piece with the rod so it's not possible :(

thanks for the additional image. I would expect the black jam nut would loosen and allow removal (unscrewing) the decap pin I do not have a die just like that so probably cannot help further

The bushing stop needs to be installed to use a bushing to size the necks.

I would try removing the decap rod. Drop in bushing, stop, & top screw in cap. Bushing should float a little to self center. Should size the necks?

The decapping pin can be removed by unscrewing it.
the pin itself couldn’t be removed
edit: I think it isn’t actual “bushing stop“ as for example my expanding mandrel die has this nut too, I assume it’s there more like to keep the rod (decapping/expanding/…) aligned or supported not to bend. But thanks anyway guys I will probably to try to do it as 243win said :)

I think Redding may call it a bushing stop? Redding wants the bushing installed with the size stamp facing the cartridge.

You have two options. You can remove the rod and simply drop the bushing in, followed by the bushing stop, and the screw the top down. Or you can take the extra decapping rod that came with the die and cut the tip off.
I’ve personally done #1 with no issues
