Wilson die vs Forester die

Could you tell me what I did wrong? The Forester dies (Non-Bushing)are set up at 1/8-1/4 and turn into the shell holder; the brass chambers and ejector work just fine. The same method with Wilson dies (Bushing), and the case won't eject. But a loaded round fires and then ejects just fine. Caliber 22 Creedmoor. What tool can I use to measure the shoulder bump?

Hornady or SAC comparator tool. They attach to your calipers

RCBS Precision Mic (for most popular calibers)

I probably use this tool the most because it's really fast and easy to use while I'm sizing cases, where I'll spot check the cases to be sure I'm getting the sizing intended. I can easily tell very well, with a quick spin, if I'm getting the shoulder bumps I'm after.

I've put my Go Gauge in this tool and always get a consistent reading at -0-. I've come to really trust the readings I get to determine where my case headspace is. :)

I re-read the Wilson FL sizing die settings. I have a Co-Ax press. It says screw die down to Shell holder. I screwed it down and turned an extra 1/4 turn. Do you think that's my problem? I shot the over-bumped ammo today, and it performed well, ejecting correctly. BUT an unfired loaded round will not eject? 22 Creedmoor.

How is this a sizing issue ?
Well it could be. IF the Wilson die is setting the shoulder back enough the round would chamber (maybe with a little resistance on the bolt) BUT the WILSON may not be sizing down on the .200 line enough to correctly size there. I once had a FL die by one of our go-to die companies that would size the 200 line properly but not touch the shoulder. S*UF# happens!

If a sized and loaded round doesn’t eject but a fired ( larger and longer) does I still don’t see how it’s a sizing problem unless I’m just not reading the OP correctly. That’s always possible but will a sized but not loaded case cycle ?

Your shoulder is not getting pushed back far enough. Do you have or get a Wilson case gauge for a 22 CM it will pay dividends. With a Redding full length resizing die I really had to crank the die down further than expected to get close to the shoulder bump I needed and still ended up buying a set of Redding comp shell case holders.

No not from this Wilson die... But a sized and not loaded from a forester die will all day long

Sounds like your unfired case has way to much shoulder bump and is moving forward and not catching the extractor. The fired case is blown out and extracts normally. Your cases will probably have head separation shortly if you continue. Stop, and get something to measure the shoulder to base dimension. Your looking for .001 to .002 shoulder push back. Period. Good luck. Feel free to pm me if you need help.

There are a few tools that added to/with your calipers will measure the base to datum on your brass. Pick one up.
Additionally, have you colored/blackened any brass to see where it's hanging up ?
