WILLIAMSPORT 1000 YARD RULES

The Original Pa 1000yard Bench Rest Club is pleased to anounce that that following rules are effective immediately :
1- the light gun rule changed to a 17# weight limit,with this being the only restriction,no stock width or barrel diameter or attachment rules anymore) The rifle still has to be fired from previous rest rules and has to be a single shot only,no semi or automatics)
2 - you can now shoot any rifle in the Heavy Gun class,this includes MUZZLE BREAKS.So now you can shoot your light gun with the break on.
Also, remember the 600 yard matches follow the light gun matches on Saturday.So nobody has an excuse not to shoot at our top notch range,everyone is welcome.

Just think if a 17-lb class was created in short-range Benchrest,as distinct from "unlimited" which demands rail-gun technology). Then a person could shoot one-gun at all distances...

That's opening another can of worms of course. But if you look at the big picture, it might be healthy for the future of precision shooting.

Or they could set 10.5lb as the LG limit for all, and we could use real hunting guns..

It's good to see less restrictions though, as it opens potential improvements for everyone.

Bummed that Brakes are now allowed on HG's, but happy about the 17lb limit...Now I can add a little more lead shot to my 16.5lb guns Or maybe throw my USO on one...

C'mon over IBS and NBRSA folks!

RE: HG brakes...all they do,on a real heavy-gun) is make noise...recoil reduction is slim...just need to keep the extra layer of hearing protection for HG now

Just as long as everyone rotates by Earl Chronister and his braked 30-378 Short Matt K's big 30 isn't too far behind

No brakes on my LG's either...

I guess I just think that the HG would have been best as it was originally...but either way, I'll be there, and either way, I'll be wearing plugs and muffs, so it doesn't really matter

Hopefully it all ends well for the club.
