Will the 6.5x284 feed reliably in a 700 repeater?

I have a Remington ss long action .270 BDL that I purchased as a donor rifle and wish to have it smithed into a 260AI, 280AI or 6.5x284. I was wondering if it would chamber and feed 6.5x284 cartridges out of it's built-in magazine fairly reliably.

I'm not sure that the rebated rim presents problems that the the other cartridges would not have. It makes me suspicious to know that Remington has evidently never chambered a 284 in it's 700. Hmmmm....is there a good reason for that?

Best reason is that the .284 was a Winchester round. I see absolutely no reason that it shouldn't feed properly as long as you have the correct follower. It may require a magnum follower if Remington uses 2 different cuts. I have always heard horror stories about 284's feeding from conrolled round actions but I have one on a Mauser Mexican action & feeding isn't an issue. I am also using a standard follower with absolutely no issues.

You also would probly want to go with a long action if you plan on shooting heavy bullets. With a shoth action you have to seat the bullets to short taking up powder room.
