Will Remington 700 barrells fit the Remington model 7?

I was just looking through my spare barrel collection and noticed I have a few Rem 700 barrells laying around, I havent got out my Mic yet but have noticed that my Rem mod 7 barrel is pretty close to the same dia. Will a Rem 700 barrel fit on a rem model 7 action? Or are we talking about different threads? I would think that for manufacturing simplicity they would be the same, but who knows.

Ditto: I screwed a barrel that I took off of a Mod 7 into a M700. It was chambered in 7mm-08. I mention the caliber because after truing the M700 receiver face,,.0045" off) and lapping the locking lugs, it still closed, snug) on the go gage. That's on a cartridge that headspaces on the shoulder. This chamber was not long on the M7, so there was a considerable difference in the bolt face to shoulder dimension of the two actions, or the recoil lugs were different thicknesses, or both. I didn't still have the M7 recoil lug to compare. I think nominal is .1875", but I've seen them all over the place, so I'm not positive.

Piece of cake, just be sure it headspaces, and don't count on the caliber marking to clock in, although it might.
