WILL MEMBER HELP MY FRIEND?

I have a good friend that has a 280 a.i.
Christensen Arms rifle that he shot for about 4 years off and on. A year or so ago he had both front 6-48 screws break off flush to action. He was unable to remove them, so he just put it away.

Several days ago, he asked me to come by to see if I could repair it so he could give it to his grandson. Years ago my friend did me a lot of dirt work and wouldn't take any payment, so I jumped to help.

It took quite a bit of heat to get the 2 rear screws out. There was red residue from loctite and he told me the guy from Academy had mounted his scope and base and this was the second time the front screws broke.

I don't have a drill press, so I decided to have someone with knowledge and tools to repair it.
I would like to have it drilled and tapped to 8-40 and a one piece
20 moa base installed.

I'm hoping a member that has the time and knowledge to make the repairs will accept this. I will pay all shipping, labor and parts. Just my pleasure to make a small repayment I owe him.

Anyone interested PM me.

Screws broken off like that will usually come right out since there’s no tension on them. The issue will be the loctite. You will need to deal with that. CRC Brakleen or something similar containing perchloroethylene will dissolve the loctite without using heat. Give it a periodic shot of that and let it soak for a day or two. Make sure it’s out of the stock as This stuff will also damage the stock or a finish made from petroleum products.
