wildcat 6mm-257 weatherby mag

I have a wildcat 6mm-257 weatherby mag. It is built on a trued sleeved rem 700 action and fitted with a Maddco,Australian barrel)30 inch 1:8 twist. The rig is intended for 1000 yd B/R
Cases are weatherby 257 mag necked down to 6mm.
At this point I am loading 105 bergers with 67 grains of an australian powder,AR2214)it is a little slower than RE 22 and very close to hodgden H1000 but so far cant get a bullet to the 100yd target. They disintergrate at about 75 - 90 yds any ideas ???

My brother used to have a 6-284 with a 1-8 twist barrel and it would make any J-4 jacketed bullet blow up over about 3300 fps.
He had to use Sierras to go over that speed because they have a tougher jacket that holds up better.
This was before Lapuas were available here, they are supposed to be a strong design as well.
You will most likely need to slow down velocity, or switch bullets to make your setup work

Sitck some 107gr Siera's into it they are a lot harder to blow up. Also check your rifling i had a 75gr A Max split a jacket while inside my barrel in a 6.8 twist 223 remington and make a slight mark on one land. also try AR2225 it is just a bit slower and is the replacement for AR2214 and should give higher velocity with less pressure.

Your running those Bergers way faster than they were designed for out of a 257 Weatherby case.
Also sometimes a bad throat will cause them to come unglued, but I'll bet it's the speed thats doing it.

Thanks for the advice guys,I have checked the throat and lands all appear good. I have obtained some Sierra 107's and will try them out soon. I have some AR 2225 now and will try that out too.
