wife wants a build!

I agree with the 260 idea also. Similar velocities to the 6.5 swede. Tons of availability with 243 brass necked up if you can't find 260 brass. I picked the swede for my wife with recommendation from my gunsmith. I think I will stick with the swede and keep recommending it based on our results. I manage 4 ranches in Texas and my wife helps with the culling. The 140 vld is possibly the best bullet I have found for whitetails. Good luck!

I would say a 6mm if recoil is an issue. my 6x47 lapua weighs 15lbs, it doesnt kick at all. My father had a light 8lb rifle in 6.5x47 lapua and it didnt kick either. To my wife, which weighs 120lbs, can not shoot a 308 size round. Just my .02

243- its old and boring for a reason.

It can launch 100gr hunting bullets fast enough to be very, very effective.

Recoil is very manageable.

Eric is right on the money!!!!! I have and still shoot deer with my 6.5x47, whitetail deer easy to 800 yards with the 130gr bergers. And these are not your small U.S.deer. LOL Saskatchewan Monsters, our does 240-280lbs are larger than your bucks! 6.5x47 works just fine!!!

The only reason I would pick the 6.5x47 over the swede is if I had a short action to build on. If I was starting fresh I would buy a long action and build a swede. If I decided I wanted something new and cool I would look at the 6.5x55 GWI or AI.
