wich action. . . .

heres the challenge
building a .20 practical.
first of all i need a 223rem rifle, rebarrel, restock and have a nice trigger on it.

theres the remmy action wich is well known, we all know they require a lot of work to get the best out of them.
since its still a lot of work, i was thinking about using that time to accurise something that migh be better.

what do you guys think about the sako a7 with the 3 locking lug ?
the cz, wich is based on a mauser action. . . . .(i could keep the bell and carlson stock and the set trigger is already awesome)
tika t3 maybe

wich is the best rifle on the market to start with.
wich rifle on the market have the best action ?
that gun will be on a tight budget, 2k with the scope(i'll try to make my own base and ring)

What is your budget? My personal belief is that a custom Remington clone with a good barrel and stock is a better rifle, and not much more expensive, than a donor rifle upgraded. Otherwise, I would probably recommend a Savage accutrigger action with a pre-fit custom barrel. I have both formats. The custom rifle is my preferred companion ;-)

budget. . . .hard to tell. a goopher is. . . . . .small. like everyone, i want to kit them as far as possible. dont mind if i miss sometimes.
2k without scope sounds good for me. dont know if its realist.

here in canada, just the action cost around 2k :(

With a budget like that for rifle and optics, your best bet will be to locate a Savage that has a stock you like and order a pre-fit barrel. That should keep you under $2K.

I like the barnard actions. They come with an awesome trigger, and you can get one thats a drop in fit to rem 700 inletted stocks. MT guns has the action for $1050. They dont need any tweaking and are blueprinted right out of the box.

I think in the states you could pick up a reasonable barrel for around $300, and that leaves about $650 for smithing the barrel and an action of your choice. I think the manners carbon ones look pretty nice, but its a pretty personal choice.

I remember seeing an article about the winner of F-class at bisley (the comp normally has close to 1200 shooters there!!, so the winner has to be good!) and he used this action with a tru-flite barrel and just bolted it to a choate stock.

I think with a 2k budget you would be far better off going for a custom than trying to accurise a factory rifle, but thats just my opinion
