Bob Barr, president of the NRA has column in this months edition of American Rifleman. In the article he attempts to justify 76 board members. Keep in mind that the average board size is 7-12 and board members are not responsible for day to day operations. They are responsible for strategic direction, financial oversight and compliance. In the article Barr attempts to argue that the NRA has so much going on that the need 76 board members. He specifically says that there are 42 committees overseen by the 76 board members. Hey Bob, why not 42 directors instead? Not considering that board members are not managers involved in day to day operations and should not be overseeing or actively managing anything, even 42 would be an outrageous number when compared to a normal board. This probably explains why nothing ever seems to get done. As I reside in Washington State I have never seen the NRA battling for my Second Amendment rights and those rights are essentially stripped now that we are going to be required to get a permit from the state to exercise said rights.
Bob goes on to say that "many hands make light work". As it turns out, many hands make light fingers. Cue Wayne Lapierre and all those board members who let him get away with theft.
Nice try Bob but your justification is a load of BS.
