1) I'm 65 and have NEVER had a mechanical device that did not need repairs. NEVER. the reason is the second law of thermodynamics; systems run down, they break 2) labor ands parts are expensive. furthermore quality labor is even rarer and more expensive 3) the price of repairing the INEVITABLE repair, the first not the last, will exceed any money saved purchasing used. this holds reguardless if the scope is a tasco or a S&B. and that's just the first time (see #1). 4) where do you think will be your place in line when the inevitable occurs and you call the dealer, you didn't buy from, and beg for customer service. you're not his frickin customer! so then just check what % or $ difference between the scope of your dreams is in the classifieds. that savings has the life expectancy of the moring mist. and please no; "I picked up a NF in the box at a garage sale for $15." that's the exception not the rule.
