Why didnt you tell me ?

I finally bit the bullet and bought a CZ 452 American. It was kinda tough to make the decision cause I had never seen one. This is the best buy for the money in the whole firearms world. Shame on all of you for keeping this secret.

CZ's used to be an even better deal before the word got out.. I have 3..

Indeed. When CZ was still relatively unknown in the US their guns were priced incredibly low. Workmanship was very good and they were using beautiful wood. Made buying a CZ a total no-brainer. Now that CZ is almost a household name, pricing has risen considerably and the guns aren't such a phenomenal deal anymore. And I have to say that I (and others) have noted that their metalwork quality has slipped a little.

Several CZ sporter fanatics report the accuracy has become hit or miss. If they buy one that won't shoot, they quickly sell it.

Just picked up a LNIB CZ 452 17M2 Varmint...not too keen on bass akwards

safety..but feels & looks like a well made rifle..good trigger & accuracy...scope

is a Vortex DB HP 2-8x32 mounted in Burris Sig rings....having two Savage

17M2's prior to the CZ...I know the effectiveness of the M2 on small varmints

Hardcore CZ rimfire people generally seem to prefer the 452 versus the 455. I think there are some minor differences in the actions (in addition to changable barrels). Surely the differences mean something to some people but to me it's like arguing how many angels can fit on the head of a pin.

I have a 452 American 17HMR and love the gun but the set trigger of the 455 would be really nice.

The 453 with the single set trigger is sweet too.

Several times I've considered buying a CZ 452 LH but I have a Savage BTVLSS with an Apachee trigger kit. The action is butter smooth and it shoots very well. The may be easier to pack around though, my Savage weighs over 9 pounds.

Tommie I've heard that the 452s are more accurate than the 455s. I have no idea if its true but when they (455s) first came out that rumor was like wildfire.

That may be true but I can't speak from experience regarding the 455. It does seem plausible that the 455's switch barrel design might not shoot quite as well as 452.

After buying my 452 a buddy was so impressed the 17 HMR round that he bought one before heading out for a prairie dog outing. It's a cheap Marlin heavy barrel with a tupperware stock. That Marlin shoots better than my CZ and cost way less.
