Why did my thread get locked?

Why did this thread get locked in the reloading forum and half a dozen of the responses get deleted?
Thread name: Those of you using more than 47gr of Varget in .308 win

If I had to guess, I would say it was a liability issue. Your were discussing over book loads. If on the other hand, you had said that you want to know if compressing Varget is dangerous, or asked how to get more extruded powder in a case, without mentioning any other details, I don't think that there would have been a problem. Sometimes we forget that we don't have any idea of the level of experience of those that might read posts, and that this should limit on line discussions.

Kind of what I figured, I dont think MY load was the issue load, though. As soon as folks started talking about a CRAZY HIGH load of Varget with 178gr bullets, their replies got deleted and my thread got locked. Just wanted to make sure that I wasnt doing anything super taboo.

i do not knoow about the 155 load..but all the stuff on the 178 was off the charts...
ql is only a tool and not perfect, but i could find no combinaqtion with the 178 and his claimed load that was safe...
so yes away it went..
in the future be very specific on your data gun velocity etc upfront...

Yes, the thread even started off badly, mentioning a grossly undercharged load that could also have led to catastrophic failure. Proof read your posts before hitting the "post" button.

I love this forum as there are already the obvious reasons for posting. I rarely see "scary" threads here where someone is blatantly giving out errant data, and when over-max loads, or reduced loads are commented here, it is usually with the very theoretical what might happen type conversation.

I can't handle how many people I've seen at the range trying out a "new load" they found on-line. When asked about it, they know nothing about it other than "it was highly recommended."

I now shoot at least 5 spots away from someone with reload ammo unless they show even the smallest of signs of testing properly. I hope factory ammo comes back quickly as there are a few in my area who will be much safer without reloading.
