..WHY brass weight is SO CRITICAL.....

I did a quick spreadsheet detailing case/brass weight AND water capacity versus chamber pressure

Using QuickLoads and keeping the powder charge weight and COL [cartridge overall length] CONSTANT

6PDK [6x6.8SPC]
AA2520 = 29.11 gr.
Berger .243, 90 gr. BTMT
COL = 2.300"
Max Pressure = 58,740 psi

Water Capacity Case Weight Scale Factor Velocity Pressure

35.7 112.0 3.137254902 2811 54,885
35.5 113.0 3.184224902 2819 55,675
35.3 114.0 3.231194902 2828 56,493
35.1 115.0 3.278164902 2837 57,337
34.9 116.0 3.325134902 2846 58,211
34.7 117.0 3.372104902 2855 59,115 OVER!
34.6 118.3 3.419075145 2859 59,578 OVER!

Notice for a brass variance from 118.3 grains down to 112.0 grains the water capacity varied from 34.6 grains UP to 35.7 grains, respectively.

The answer is uniformity.
