Why! are 6 BRX more popular than the 6 BRDX for long range shooting. Looking to build one or the other for 600 yard to 1,000 yard Bench Rest Shooting.

Thanks for your input!

I am guessing you mean why more 6BRX than 6BRDX. If so, the reason I went 6BRX is simple. I could use my 6BR dies. some 8000 rounds later, no problem. Still on the original 200 cases.

The 6 brx is a good thing, 2900fps plus with a 105 and great barrel life, accurate and easy to load, I use my 6br dies and a smallbase 308 die, and 30, 32 gr of powder is wayless than what you have to use in a 243, or a 6xc. Davek.

I agree that the BRX is very good. Have used this chambering for years and had lot's of success with it at 600yds. Brass is easy to make, easy to find a good load, and brass lasts a long time.

Jeff, how do you set up your 6br dies to size and set bullets.

{jeff} please set me stright if i am wrong. the way i set mine is i set the down to shell holder then rase it up 098 to give it a 002 sholder bump. and a small base 308 to resize shell when needed. it hase worked but on some i do get hard bolt lift on fired shells. using varget in 30.5 to 32 both shoot well as all i do is shoot around house.and upto 300 my limet for safe shooting i can a dime or maybe more so i can not compet with the real shooters. please over look spelling can not get spell check to work. did not mean to but into your question just wanted to ask. thanks rick

In my experience you will get bolt click if you use a 6br sizing die...it needs the full case resized to prevent the click. For me it happened on the 3rd or 4th firing of the case. The options are, you can use a 308/243 full length sizer and size the case then bump the shoulders back with your 6br die...or buy a 6brx die.

I don't honestly have a good answer as to why I picked a 6brx over the 6brdx. The 6brx is the reamer my smith had and I know some guys who have his barrels and they shot. So I didn't really even consider the 6brdx. I do have dashers and the whole reason I didn't want another dasher was because I didn't want to have 2 different guns that shot similiar brass...thought it would just make it easier to keep brass straight. After I've had it almost a year, not sure it would've mattered but I've got it now and honestly it's the best shooting barrel I have right now so I'm using it sparingly.

Steve,

I went with the 6BRDX.

As you know, i shoot varmints with it, not competition.

Plus i think the 40* shoulders are sexy!!!! ;D

Where is the best place to get a BRX die that will post to Australia?

Only two places I know is Whidden Gunworks and 6mmar.com are the only two places that regularly stock them. You also might check with Redding directly if neither will ship out of country.

Good luck.

The 6mm Brx is the brain child of Bob Crone, it has been around for about 20 years. Lots of people have shot it because it is, "Easy", Inherently accurate, Low recoil, Good components are available, less expensive to shoot. It is a proven winner, I would say no better or no worse than the 6mm Dasher. Just a 6mmBR on steroids.

Need I say any more...

I'm in Australia and have bought and shipped several Whidden dies over no problem, good people to deal with.
Hope shipping to Aust hasnt been stopped ?
