Who will be the next National Long Range Champion

Will Kent Reeve pull it off again, will John Widden win it. Maybe Nancy Galliger Tompkins. There are a couple of new commers holding their own. There is some fine tallent, areal quality shooters in the running for the national title. I wish them all good luck.

I am hoping John Wins. I want to see what the trophy looks like and the fact that I get to shoot with the Nat'l champ every weekend makes me giggle.

Right now, the top four shooters are seperated by two points.

It's still very much anyone's game. The Palma match is being held tomorrow, and 450 more points are on the line. With competition as tight as it is, dropping a single point can make the difference.

That means John's strongest event will be tomorrow. I have been watching the results as he is a very good friend and shooting partner. I have watched him "cack off" a many a rounds now and it's still amazing to watch him shoot. I just can't get over how hard he holds. When you see that 1/2 breath go out by watching his shooting jacket you can focus on the front sight of his bbl and it doesn't even move. On top of all of that, I think my wife said it best when she said "you could not meet a more humble person".

First, I would like to congratulate all the fine shooters at Camp Perry in 2007. This year two of the best shooters and nicest guys you have ever met came in first,John Whidden) and second,Kent Reeve)in the Long Range National Match. I personally know both these men and they are great ambassadors to the shooting sports. These gentlemen are teammates on the US PALMA team. We need to wish them well as they are going to Canada to Compete in the Canadaian National Championship and the World Fullbore Championship. We as shooters and supporters of the shooting sports need to help sponsor the U S PALMA team.

Again congratulation to John and Kent may your skills, equipment and luck continue throughout the next series of matches in Canada.

Just 3 weeks ago at John's house in his home shop he told me his dream and goal was to be the Highpower Nat'l champion... well today his dreams have come true. It could not happen to a better or more deserving guy, there just isn't one. He is a wonderful friend, father, gunsmith, and sportsman. I am proud of you buddy... have we set ourself a new goal yet? LoL
