Who uses a Dillon fl-2000 or a fl-2001 tumbler and cant stand the lid rattle?

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
I bought one almost 20 years ago.Since I noticed slowly but surely the lid dished in the center and you couldnt really tighten it correctly anymore . When running it was eroding the lid and bowl slightly.I called Dillon yesterday and wanted to know if I could buy a lid or a gasket. You had to buy the lid to get the gasket for 36.00 plus shipping. The tech suggested windlacing they used on cars in the 60's and 70's to make a softer edge for the bowl. I thought about it and said to myself, that I had a noisey lyman so I applied the black ultra black and spun the small lid on a lathe to smooth it evenly. I cleaned the lid up and degreased and put a heavy bead all the way around and smoothed it with one of those squeege's you use to do spot filling of plastic filler. It worked great. It is drying right now and I will update you guys later and hope this helps someone out with a tumbler that drive's you nuts.LOL

I had the same problem with mine. Cut a piece of rubber gasket material and put in between the flat washer and the lid. Tightened the wing nut and all is good!
I hope this helps,
Lloyd

I tried that myself and my lid os so goofed up.It has been a shrewd investment as it has lasted through probably way over a 100,000 cases. It is the best one on the market that is affordable.I use lymans for final polish or my model b.

I use a Thumbler vibratory tumbler. While it is being used, the lid is off the unit and it is very quiet. When it is stored, the lid goes on.
