Who makes affordable laminate stocks?

A new build is underway and I’m trying not to kill my money tree. Looking for a walking varminter laminated stock that has enough forearm to not be completely terrible on bags. Not seeing anything by Boyd’s that catches my eye. I’ve already been down the Richards Microfit road (NEVER again). What other manufacturers should I look at?

20160507_120437.jpg I got a stockys laminate classic accu block on my wifes 6BR. Its exactly like a sako 85 without all the checkering. I really like this stock and would built another with it in a heartbeat!! damn good shooter too.

What action and inlet? I went with an old 40xb stock for my SA 700 used parts gun. Was under $100 shipped with all hardware (which was a killer deal, admittedly) but is a great stock with a comfy profile for on the bags or in the sling.

Funny that you say "Never again" on the Richard's Micro Fit stocks. I have or have had close to 10+ (that I can remember) and no issues. I think I have 5 of my own now?
I love their selection of styles and lam colors. Better than most out there as far as cost and style selection. So it takes a bit of work to make it yours, that's what building is all about.

Tommie, what problems did you have with the Richards micro fit? Might save me some grief......rsbhunter

Richards inletting is rough. That being said, assuming you are glass bedding they work. The exterior will need a fair amount of sanding to finish - hence the pricing. I have had a half dozen stocks from them but I like to do my own work and need a steady stream of projects to keep me happy...

And Richard's Micro Fit Stocks are known as "gunsmith stocks" because they need work as far as fitting and finish. Some more than others and some, not too bad.;) And whatever work you put into one of their stocks make it "yours".

What price range do you consider affordable?

Stockys,
Bobby Hart laminates, I own 3 of them and have put together rifles for 4 of my friends with them. Fit and finish is 99.9 %
