What size?
McMaster Carr has acme nuts. You night be able to get one and turn it round on the OD then shrink it into your aluminum part.

You need 1"x 10 tpi RH? I might have an acme tap like that Ill look when I get home.
A bronze thread insert might be a better idea. Sloppy ACME threads suck and I think aluminum would wear pretty quickly.
Yes Dud, Al can wear more rapidly. However, I'm thinking that the amount of rpms in its life and the lack of speed won't be a significant wear factor with some sticky grease applied.
It could be a fun over kill project if you had the material, equipment and wild hair for several hours of machine time.
I did this on an Al scope stand I copied from a pic in a Champions Choice catalogue. Knurling, Heli Coils, brass wear sleeves and points, heated parts shrunk fit b/c of a slight shortage of necessary length. Fun project.
I always use the oilite bronze nuts and prethreaded acme rod. You can slap one of my mariner wheels and itll spin all the way down- no grease needed. And 2g is good if your threaded rod is of the same class
Fifteen bucks. Make one and you'll be earning a penny an hour.
