Whistle pig lost his whistle

I was set up on the edge of an alfalfa field with weeds behind me. After sitting at my bench for about a half hour this groundhog starts doing the "warning" whistle. He would whistle about every 15 seconds or so and I had enough after his 6th whistle. So I got up from the bench and went into the weeds to find his hole. After finding his hole, I mashed down a few weeds so I could see his hole from my bench. Then I returned to my bench and waited.
It didn't take long. After about 5 minutes a head appeared. No more whistle. The shot was a whopping 19 yards. :)

How many clicks on your scope? ha ha!

Actually, I had it up 1 MOA from 100 yard zero. Probably should have had it up a little more to hit EXACTLY where I was aiming, since the scope is over an inch above the bore. A lot of guys don't realize that to hit your POA when it is less than 100 yards (scope zeroed for 100 yards) requires dialing the scope UP.

I like to keep the scope at 1 MOA above 100 yard zero while hunting those pesky whistlers. That way, I'm ready for anything from point blank to about 230 yards. Past that, I range, then adjust to a range card or my "Shooter app" on my phone before taking the shot.

So, after figuring in the wind, the atmospheric pressure, judging drift by watching the hair on his noggin twitch, adding in the coriopolis effect, did you have to adjust your scope or did you just hold over???;)

DANG. I knew I forgot something. Gotta remember to check atmospheric pressure for those really difficult shots.

If you had time to go over there and mess up his front lawn, you should have taken a soil sample to determine the relative humidity at the point of impact...those things effect a bullet ya know...

So glad i am here to help you...:p
