Whidden vs Hoover pointing dies

Was looking for opinions. Whidden va Hoover pointing dies. I have the whidden. But they differ in design quite a bit. Just wondering. Would love to hear from someone who has seen or used both

Thanks

I trim and point with Hoover tools and like the results. I've never used the Whidden pointer but after looking at bullets i point and other guys bullets pointed with the Whidden pointer you can see a difference. The Hoover pointed bullets tend to be a more gradual transition to the tip of the bullet. The Whidden pointed bullets have a sharper angle to the tip from what i've seen. Is one better than the other, who knows?

I have both tools. They both do the job. Pointing bullets is an art and to do it consistently requires a lot of testing/ learning. I believe if your going to point ( and all are not pointable) you need to sort and trim first. That said I like the Hoover system it is more costly though.

+1 for Hoover.
When I asked John to make me a custom .375 caliber set-up for pointing bullets, trimming Meplats and measuring bearing surface of bullets he did and to the same exacting quality as he's provided for all the other calibers he's provided for. - He will do a punch for about any bullet that one would want, if he doesn't have it already he'll build it with samples that the custom provides.

Hoover's have made a handful of custom inserts for me to point custom bullets. I think that either one would serve you well but if I had to make the decision again I would still go with the Hoover.
