Whidden v block

I have a savage pta f class rig and thought about using a whidden v block. I change barrels from time to time. I just would like to hear if it is worth it or not. I don't like to keep bedding every so often. Give me the scoop guys. Thanks, Matt

Matt,

What do you mean "J don`t like to keep bedding every so often"?????

Once I have a rifle bedded it`s done,i`ve never had to re-bed a rifle,i`m confused..........

Phil.

Up until recently I had bedded a pad under the shank. So when I changed barrels I had to redo it. So I just went to action bedding. But after pulling it out several times. I know the bedding is wearing. And would like A better way. Maybe even 2 actions 1 stock. I hope this makes sense. Thanks, Matt

I've got a whidden V block in one of mine. It took a lot of work to dremel and wood chisel out the stock.
I like it but I don't know that it's any better than my others that I have pillar bedded.
A lot of wood has to come out

I would still want a skim bed over a v block. From now on, get you barrels machined with a shoulder and you wont have to take the stock off to swap barrels.

I got a mill I can remove the wood with. I use devcon myself. It is pretty permanent. Whidden wants 250 total parts and labor to install. So if I oillar and bed just the action. Yall think its just as good? That is unless I want to use two action in the same stock.

I have the Whidden V Block installed in a couple of my Savage rigs and one in my XP stock. Mounting is "metal to metal" with NO skim coat bedding between the action and block.. When and if the action comes out of the stock for any reason, it goes back in the exact same place.
If you're going to use bedding, you might as well bed it with pillars and forget the V Block.
Metal to metal is what counts.

Do you think the block is better than just steel pillars and action bedded? Also I dont mind bedding my own rifles but is 250 a bit much to install one? I am out of devcon and still have to buy the block. Matt

Call and talk to John himself. He can tell you what might be best option

If I remember correctly, John told me v block was for people who want to shoot 1 barreled action and then shooting another (switch). If using one action I would think a good bedding job would work
