Which size brass neck bushing to use in my new BR 6.5x47 rifle

It's been more than 1.5 years and finally my new BR rifle is together - it's time to fireform some brass. But first I've got to load some rounds to fireform; new 6.5x47 Lapua cases. I'm new a this and my question to you all is what size neck sizing bushing should I use to obtain the target loaded neck diameter.

The reamer has a 0.2945 inch neck, so I assume the chamber is that size, 0.2945. It is unclear to me which clearance I should use between the loaded rounds and the chamber; my understanding is that 0.003" is fairly standard. However, looking at Tony Boyer's book (The Book of Rifle Accuracy, 2010, page 139) for BR rifles with tight neck chambering (this one is), it says the goal is to have a very small clearance of 0.001 to 0.002" between the loaded round and the chamber. Based on this varied feedback, it is unclear to me whether the clearance should be .001, .002 or .003"; what do you think.

Assuming, because I am a novice at this, I stick with 0.002 or .003 clearance (I'm concerned about getting dirt in a very small 0.001 clearance), which size neck bushing should I use for each of these?

Overall, the three questions are (1) which clearance should I use between the loaded round and the chamber, (2) which size neck bushing should I try to obtain this clearance, and (3) if it turns out I need to reduce the neck thickness, which neck turner should I get/use for this 6.5x47 round.

All comments are welcome!

1/ The new school of thought in BR is with 0.003" total clearance you loose nothing over 0.002" total clearance
2/ I'll defer to someone who has more experience with this case, but you will probably need 2 or 3 different sizes to tweak neck tension
3/ I have a separate K&M for each comp. cartridge, but if I were buying today, I would go with Sinclairs NT- 4000

Hi cassidy...you aint gona hav to turn em...they only load at .289 outa the box,so you hav .005 +/- clearance (your reamer "should be" .292" !!))now.....use a .286 wilson bushing...(good luk finding a Redding that is the right size)....Roger
PS.. the Wilson bushings have a more generous radius and will not damage the case neck like a Redding will when sizing .007" down from the fired dia.....and the Reddings are usually .002 smaller than they are marked!!!! ..I like to size with a bushing .003 smaller than the loaded round,,,when the brass springs bak you are only .002 smaller and that give adequate "grip" (neck tension) ....

As Roger said, the loaded 6.5X47L rounds mike at .289-.2895. Your chamber based on a .2945 neck diameter and after fireforming the rounds in it they will measure around .293-.294 neck diameter. You may want to neck down in 2 different stages starting with a .291 then finish off with a .287 or .288 depending on what the rifle likes as far as neck tension. This will help keep the case necks more concentric instead of sizing the necks ~ .006 in one pass. I would not turn the necks at all and just sort your brass by neck wall thickness and use the best ones. Your rifle will shoot fine with .005 total clearance. My 6.5X47L Tactical rifle has the same exacxt specs chamber wise as yours.
