Which Shehane ST-1000 Stock?

Start arranging my project for a new F TR rifle.

I like the Shehane ST-1000 stock but not sure understanding difference between the F and L versions as descripted on the ScopeUsOut website. Meaning "Light" and "F Class" versions?

Which one do you suggest for a 32" heavy barrelled action considering the F TR weight limit and stiffness requirements for pushing heavy 308 bullets?

I always thought the L was for laminate and the F for fiberglass. I have a laminate and it is a great stock.

What he said. Some say the laminate is stiffer. I have both and can't tell the difference. Call Bill Shehane, he is a wealth if information.

Do yourself a favor and get the fiberglass version. I got one of the laminate stocks and it needed a lot of work. After talking with others I discovered others had the same experience. The fiberglass versions are made by McMillan and are preferable in my opinion. Who knows mabey the laminates have gotten better, as my experience was 5+ years ago.

FWIW, I agree completely with BJ44BJ....a lot of work to get the laminate level/straight.

Bob makes some really nice stocks that are light and really stiff forend. He can make the forend as long as you want. I have spoken with him several times. They are CNC machined and he guarantees all surfaces are straight and parallel.
