which scopes are safe to buy used?

in follow up to my thread on "the ethics of selling a POS" it would be helpful to have a list of scopes that have a liflelong transferable warranty (thanks to 'tome' for the suggestion). these are the 2 that come to mind; leupold & vortex. probably would be good to make this topic a sticky. so please add others.

I would say ANY scope with a FULL lifetime warranty to other than original buyer. Add to crufts list Burris

THE CAVEAT IS THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW WHETHER THAT MANUFACTURER MAY SELL TO ANOTHER ENTITY RETAINING THE SAME NAME. THE NEWER OWNER MAY HAVE NO CONTRACTURAL OBLIGATION TO HONOR THE PREDECESSORS WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE WITH TASCO, REDFIELD AND WEAVER.

SOME GERMAN MANUFACTURERS, AS WELL AS OTHERS, REJECT WARRANTY CLAIMS TO THE SECOND OWNER. MARCH SCOPES ARE IN THE SAME CATEGORY.

no joe march only 5 years to orginal owner. scope then sent back to japan at owner cost for repair. will be posting a list of top 21 scopes of which only 7 are life time & transferable.
