Which powder(s) for fire forming 6BRX/Dasher

8-9 grains of most Pistol Powders followed by a case full of cream of wheat, caped with a patch or TP works well.

Whatever powder you use, the load should be enough to fully form the case (not a reduced load). I would use a moderate load of varget, RL15, or H4895, with bullet jammed about .010" into the lands.

I used 29 grains of Varget Wolfe SMR primers and 85 grain sierras as shown on the Hodgon web site. http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp I Loaded them .020 long and went to the range. I broke in my barrel and fire formed 200 Lapua cases at the same time and only lost one or two.

Ive used Trail boss when I just wanted to form some cases quickly or when running a barrel in off the range, firing into the ground. If I want to form a lot of cases at the range, I use a faster powder such as H4198. With these powders, you can form the cases while running the barrel in without making lots of noise or heating the barrel up and eroding the throat. Otherwise, I load them with H4895 or Varget and use them as foulers or practice if I already have some loaded cases. Like others have said, you can get great accuracy while fireforming.
