Which new range toy?

If you were looking at moderate price rifles somewhat less expensive to shoot just for at the range probably no more than 100 yards would you pick .17HMR or .22WMR? I've got .22lr, .22Hornet and 5.56 (AR). These two xMR calibers seem least expensive to feed and not duplicating what I already have.

I would instantly/definitely buy another 22LR... If you don't have a superior quality .22 now buy that. If you do have a high end rimfire buy a 10/22 and a case of CCI Standard and act like a kid again.

I've got CZ 457, SA 2020 and Ruger 10/22 in .22lr oh, and Henry AR 7. That's why I asked specifically about one of the two magnums as I have none yet.

22 Magnum more knock down hunting wise but the 17 Hmr for accuracy has been my experience but I do shoot out to 200yds with my 17Hmr and 22 mag in hunting situations with 70% connections most days but it fun

No, way too far in Houston from any varmints to hunt. And never a hunter anyway. Just thinking about a maybe, for a little more variety at the range.

I'm not much into the 22 Mag. had a couple. The 17 HMR is a nice round. I got mine for close range groundhog hunting in VA. when I moved to SC, I sold it, No grounds hogs here. I have a 223 for varmints. There is no match ammo for the 17HMR or 22 Mag. just hunting ammo. With good match ammo your 2 bolt guns 22lr. will out shoot them. 17 HMR would be my pick.
The 22 hornet can be just so so for accuracy. I had one that would shoot and one that would not, The 223 has vast amount of different ammo and you pay less than a 22 Hornet.
