Which FX-120i?

I've ordered the auto trickler system, and now I need the scale. I searched FX-120i and have found a bunch of units. Most have dissimilar UPC codes. I know I need a RS232 port model, but is there anything I am missing?
Thanks,
Scott

I had the same question before I brought mine. Mine did come with the serial interface and the manual which you can download from the net basically say that all FX-i series "can be connected to a personal computer using the RS-232C serial interface" so you should be OK.

FX-120i is great.
A few minutes ago: $710 Canadian = $536.33 U.S.
Remember to get a 50gm weight. At Cambridge they cost about $12 U.S., at Old Will Knot Scale $3.50 plus S&H, at Amazon (Prime) around $6.

Help me out here, need the weight to calibrate?

For the FX-120i, it supports two choices - that standard is 100 grams but 50 grams is the other one. Since our powder weight is less than 50 grams, you should buy the lighter of the two i.e. 50...

Folks,
Thank you for the information about the FX-120I and Cambridge as a source. I completed the order this morning.
I do have a question/concern in that this is an electronic device and variations in line current/voltage can possibly compromise the accuracy and repeatability. It might be an oversight on my part but I don't recall any discussion of how anybody has addressed that consideration??? Having said that, in previous searches for equipment to condition electrical line quality one can go to such lengths that the cost of the balance becomes insignificant by comparison. I did a cursory read of the instruction manual so maybe there is a discussion on the subject in that or maybe the instrument has internal circuitry to adjust for variations. Anybody have any comments or experience to relate ??

Personally I haven't seen or read anything that would answer your question. So all I can offer is some anecdotal experiences.

I've used the scale for ~18 months. The only time I've seen it lose zero is prior to/during warm up.

The only times I've seen it flutter is in a breeze or in the presence of static electricity. (Interesting to note was on those days I couldn't bring my hand within 6" of the Chargemaster sitting next to the A&D.) Discharging or grounding myself resolved that issue for the balance of last winter.

There's nothing special about the power supplied to my home, and in fact the lights will blink when the AC kicks in. There are a ton of electronics running in my home along with cat-5, home automation, and lighting control wires throughout.

I have a lab grade power supply that I got a while back trying to get my other digital scales to perform . . . it didn't help those scales . . . I've never thought of using it on the A&D.

Admittedly, all that says is my A&D works in my house lol. But I think there's enough evidence from others that (A) power supply to a strain gauge scale isn't really the issue, and (B) the A&D is not a strain gauge scale and it works unaided.

This is not one of those ". . . my Chargemaster is dead on, all day long . . ." when they really aren't situations.

Thank you for your comments. I too have found static electricity to be a major irritant. One of Herman Salazar's last articles addressed using Static Guard laundry spray to dissipate static electricity and it has been very effective. Whenever my VIC-123 starts acting "crazy" I know another treatment is due and that usually takes care of the problem. Thanks again for your help.

I run my FX-120i on juice supplied by a UPS. Don't know that it's needed, but it was there from when I had the DI MXX-123, and since there was no obvious downside to using it, I stayed with it.
