Which brake?

I'm building (another) 300wm and need a brake. I'll be shooting 200gr or 200.20x Hybrid whichever shoots best. Muzzle diameter is .7" and prefer black.

I'm considering precision armament m4-72, PVA Jet blast, Surefire procomp 762.

Anyone used any of these or have a suggestion?

If you are having to get the barrel threaded already I would look hard at the brakes from forum member Ross Schuler. I pretty much use his brakes exclusively and they work very well. Another good option is the Harrels tactical. Both are under $50 and reduce recoil with the best of them.

I put a Harrell’s on everything. Mostly radial brakes, but I have one of their 4 port tactical brakes on a heavy barreled 30-06 and it kicks less that my sporter barreled .243.

Ross Schuler makes brakes and sells here also. I recently put one on a 338 LM Improved. It's a 4 port 1" OD brake. This brake has top ports which really seem to keep the barrel down upon recoil. Took recoil down to about a .308 win. Extremely happy. He sells them for 37.00 shipped and will turn them to your contour. He offers many thread pitch and diameter options. Rem40xb1 is his user name here. Rossbrakes online.

Personally if I was using a self timing I would go with a jam nut not washers.

Do you want it close to .700"?
Do you want it blended to barrel diameter ?
Hunting? Prone shooting?

All depends on what you are looking for, a Gen 2 APA Little Bastard will calm it down, quick and easy.

Thanks everyone.

Ended up with PVA Jet Blast. Got the Melonited version. I like that the profile of the lock nut is the same as the brake.

Saturday I shot this 11lb rifle with 200gr Hybrid at 3000fps and it felt like a 308 with 168gr bullets. Very happy.

Nice looking brake. The locking nut is a nice feature.

Muzzle brakes and more beast series
Last week I bought a Two Piece 4 port Beast for a 28 Nosler. It was listed for "up to 30 cal", the exit hole diameter is .368"! That's. 084" slop over caliber, I contacted Nathan and the distributor, they said they'd stand by it nevertheless.

I just have to wait until the range opens back up ( if ever!!!!) to try it.
