Which BR Caliber To Go With? Help!!!

Well, I am into Varmint Shooting at long ranges, I am after the perfect caliber that I can also use for deer hunting one week out of the year! I have also given thought to shooting Bench Rest matches at my local club at 600 yards. Which is the most accurate caliber out of the BR family and what rate of twist I should go with.

Thanks For Your Help!

Hunting for one week out of the year... hmmm... that would be a serious conflict with a good match rifle, weight, shape, criteria for ballistics). There will be nothing perfect about it I think; a target rifle is not yur ideal hunting rifle, unless you're varminting). You could go with a "plain" 6BR 1:8 twist for heavy bullets out to 600y, and still use it for hunting. If this is a humane hunting cartridge, I don't have the slightest clue. You could also opt for a 6BR-Improved, like the Dasher or BRX if you want to stick with the 6BR brass. Maybe a bit better for hunting is a 243/243AI/6mmRem.

Suggest you wait a few weeks and the first 6.5x57 Lapua Cases should be in the country. Most guys are talking about necking this down to 6mm, but I think it would be excellent with the 123gr Scenar for matches, with a 120-130gr hunting bullet for deer.

I forgot to say that I have to action, one will be a light rifle and the other is going to be a match rifle agian.

Thanks

Mark
I love these kind of questions
If you wanted a great 600 yd caliber that you could varmit with and hunt deer with once per year and you could get factory ammo for it then the .243 would be your choice. As long as the deer aren't to big.
If factory ammo isn't an issue then one of the 6BR Improved rounds might be a smidge better.

Thank You Guy For Your Help!!

I have decided to with building my varmint rifle first since that is what I will shoot all summer and if I feel that it is a good enough cal. I will hunt deer with it. With reading a lot of the articles on this page and getting ideas from many people I have decided to go with a 6mm br. I will post pic.
