Which barrel manufacturer should I go with for 6br build?

The people there are very nice, deliver when they say they will, and their barrel quality speaks for itself.

I have all Pac-Nor barrels on my BRs, and have never been disappointed, and using Savage actions, when your done, you can truly say I built that rifle.
Rather than saying some gun smith built that rifle for me, and all it took was money.
The satisfaction level is much higher.

I have used strictly Krieger barrels for the past 8 years, have used other barrels but settled on the Kriegers. I don't try to fix something that ain't broke. I think in eight years I've only had one that just wouldn't shoot competetively but, it worked great on critters.

Jeff: Don't know where the Hart barrel installation requirement came from, but Hart, in Layfayette New York is in the business of selling barrels, period! Robert W. Hart & Son, Inc. located in Nescopeck Pa. is a seperate entity that does build rifles, make & sell shooting equipment, etc., and if they build a rifle for you, will be happy to install whatever barrel you want. They are both fine, old time companies.

I agree with Lynn about the 1:8 twist.
I had Hart build me a 6br for varmints a couple years ago and it is a smoker. It shoots really tiny little groups with the 75gr. VMAX that makes the ground squirrels unhappy.
I tried the bigger bullets but the VMAX seem to buck the wind pretty good and provide good enough accuracy to consistently kill rodents to 500 yards.

Frank: When I talked to Ken I kinda got the impression he wasn't into selling drop in barrels to us Factory Savage Action types. Could of just been his excellent ability to access my lack of experience in custom rifle building ;D. One of my cousins has a rifle from R.W. Hart. A 25-06 that shoots real good even though I don't believe he's EVER, EVER cleaned the bore.

I agree both the Hart establishments are great people.
