Which barrel for my 6mm ppc?

My dads benchrest rifle with a Stolle Panda action has a Hart barrel. It is starting to show signs of decreased accuracy. I hate to change this barrel. He passed away one year ago. I sold my gun and have been shooting his. I cannot get it to shoot like he could. He always did beat me in matches anyway. I've worked up his loads from all his books. The best load so far for me is 28 gr of h322 with Mo Jo Gentner bullets that we have left. I am debating on putting another barrel on this gun or just buy another gun . This old gun has his history and memories but I love to shoot it. Any suggestions on which barrel to choose Krieger,Hart, etc. Would be helpful.
Thanks James

Unless it has an very high round count, I would question the need for a new barrel. Please do not take this personally, but it could be that your dad was a better reloader and shooter than you are currently. More practice, and practice that is geared towards skill improvement (wind reading, trigger, holding, cheek pressure, etc) may help in this regard. I'm sure your dad would be proud to see you using his rifle and shooting as well as he could or better..... so in my opinion it is definitely worth the effort.

To ease or confirm your suspicions on the barrel, find a trusted gunsmith or shooter that has a good bore scope and have the barrel inspected. Also have him check the crown.

For a barrel recommendation for a 6ppc, Lilja, Hart, Shilen, Kreiger and in no particular order.

I sincerely hope you do get that rifle shooting as well as your dad could. ;) Good luck to you. :) WD

About the sixth post down is the equipment list for the 2014 super shoot. You can see what the best were using.

OP,,,I would get a Krieger 13.5 twist (.237 bore) LV and get it chambered and take off the old bbl. and see if there is a dif. ,,,,keep the old bbl. maby some day you can re-install it and shoot it as good as your dad did,,,,Roger
PS,,since it is an "old" rifle the scope must be old too,,,,there are more bad scopes out there than bad bbls.!!!,,,,you might borrow a scope and see if that is the problem,,,,,the action will last several lifetimes ,,but the advances in "B"enchrest accuracy have been in optics-bullets-bbls.

Offered some very good advise. I have an old sleeved Remington with a Hart ppc barrel in known round count 20 some years old. It still shoots high 1s and low 2s

If it has sentimental value set the barrel back to clean up the throat.
Although you should just keep it as is and build a new comp gun that has no sentimental value. ;D

Krieger, Shilen and Bartlein are all great barrels. Personally, I favor Krieger and Shilen. :)

if it has a hart barrel on it now, by another. actually I have a couple in the shop. heck I could even chamber it for you, then send it your way. lee

Do not sell the rifle. I would put a new barrel in it but keep the old one. Enjoy your dads rifle. Keep in mind that bullets, powder, and primers change with different lots.
