Which 3" front bag would you suggest...

Which 3" front bag would you suggest for a Sinclair top?

I was thinking about the Edgewood reinforced bag.

Would that be a good choice or would you suggest another front bag?

Go on "Protektor" rests.. They do both front and rear bags.. You can have it ordered to your specifications. I get mine done with leather sides and Codura tops.. I also have them sew a flat thick piece of leather under the codura so as it compresses the sand under the weight of the barrel, it gets flat. I had one w/o that piece of leather in there and as it compressed over time it would settle more on one side than the other and I did not like that. At any rate, you can have them make them ANY WAY YOU WANT and it will come to you in less than 2 weeks! They are the best at what they do..

I now have a Protektor 3" bag cordura. I find like you had mentioned, sand settles to one side after shooting.

How well is the leather underneath holding up for you? Do you remember what the cost was for that?

I can't remember the cost (about 6+years ago) but it has held up like it is still new.. They do ALL my rests, front and rear. I even ordered one for my grandson a few weeks ago as he is getting into shooting now and they started putting the leather in that place>>>so they stated they have "fixed" that problem and incorporate it into all front rests.. I do NOT know how it is doing because he lives in AZ and it is his B-day present and won't get it til next month. However, knowing the work Protektor does, my guess is it will be perfect!

Folks at Protektor are wonderful people buy from,i own all Protektor bags, there new silver bag has some kind of synthetic silk material over leather and is buy far the slickest bag you can buy

Edgewood is using a new material for the contact areas of their front and rear bags. It is a 3M material that was designed for extreme reflectivity. Someone figured out that it is also the slickest material available that can be used for shooting bags. I suggest that you look into this. I have all sorts of front bags, including all previously available materials, and have tried such things as baby powder and HBN or leather, and teflon spray on cordura. If I get another front bag, it will be an Edgewood with the 3M material, since I have it from an excellent source that it is really slick.

Added a little later: For $75 they should be slick :-) Time to get the teflon spray out and redo the cordura.

Boyd,
10 Years ago Frank Wilson told me about the material. He had a bunch of stickers that he gave me to stick on my bags. Yes, they are very slippery. He said they were the same reflective material they sold to put on athletic shoes. I called 3M and they were kind enough to send me a small roll of the material gratis. It is great, but I have to clean it with Armor All to keep it slippery. We are fortunate to have both Protector and Edgewood that make quality bags.

Boyd,
That is what I do. I still have a little of it left. I just made a random call to 3M way back when and that is how i received mine.
