Which 22lr to buy

I would like to purchase a 22lr to practice and sharpen my free standing technique. I currently own 2 30-06 rifles a Savage 110 model C, and a Tikka T3 lite. Anyone here have any suggestions as to which brand I should get. I would like it in bolt action, left handers,but not a deal breaker), and something that would mimic the weight of both my rifles. Don't want to spend a lot maybe $400 to $500 with scope included.

CZ makes left handed 22lr. The trainer or lux would be a good gun. I have a trainer, a 452 style, and a 452 american all shot great and the style and trainer have a big gun feel. its a coin toss there are alot of good guns out there. A CZ with s+k standard plus ammo, a 4x16 scope and you got a fun great shooting gun. At least i think.. Have fun shopping!!

The CZ 452 Lux has a 24.8" barrel and weighs 6 lbs. without a scope, and the American has a 22.5" barrel and weighs 5.9 lbs. without a scope. Both are made left-handed and with an Eric Brooks trigger kit, the CZ 452 rifles are excellent for what you pay.

If you take the CZ route, your choice is basically between the straight-comb American stock or the "hogback" style Lux stock.

Since I assume you're looking for a rifle that would be similar to your centerfires, I'd opt for the Lux rifle if you don't mind the hogback stock. The barrel is longer and would balance more like your other rifles.

With scope included? Sounds like a Chipmunk for you.

I bought a Chimpmunk for me son.

My father, who was chief engineer of a Fortune 500 company for 40 years and has over a dozen firearm patents, said there was a fundamental design flaw in the rifle. The firing pin galled in bolt body.

My wife took it back.

I have one of the CZ 22 lr in left handed and it is really nice to shoot handle etc. I would not hesitate to buy another as a gift or a second one for me

I would personally get a LH Tikka T1x with the 20" barrel. I have a CZ 452 myself, but once I got the Tikka and an Anschutz, it just leans in the corner, although it shoots well enough. Unfortunately it's $130 over your budget for the rifle alone. Sorry about that.

I've got to pay more attention to the date on these posts. I have a 452 Silhouette. It doesn't excite me much and most of the 452's I see are in the $450 to $500 range. If I were interested in a discontinued CZ it would be the 455 just in case I wanted to swap barrels and/or calibers. I like the older quality and not the newer 457 so much (the fancy pressed designs on the stock).
