Which 105 Berger for 6 BRX

I finally got my Henriksen reamer in for my long awaited 6BRX. At the time I ordered it I wanted to run Sierras. Now I want to run Bergers since I have had great success with there bullets so far. I have .120" freebore. I see 3 Berger 105's on the books. Can anyone give me the bearing surface lengths on these three and which seem to be the easiest to tune. Will be for 600-1000 yarrs

BL / G7 BC: 24428 (BT) @ 0.341", 0.253; 24429 (VLD) @ 0.389", 0.251; 24433 (Hybrid) @ 0.366", 0.278.

VLD & Hybrid both were easy to tune, both shoot great in 2 cartridges I load with them seated 0.020" off. Never tried the BT. Were I you I'd start with the 105 Hybrid. Good luck!

Comes down to the VLD hunting or Hybrid if you take BC numbers into your decision. Then it becomes do you want to shoot a VLD or hybrid bullet. Seems general consensus is VLD's you jam and hybrid will dang near shoot anywhere...meaning they have their sweet spots but it isn't an overwhelming location like with the VLD's.

Good luck.

The brx's Ive chambered so far have shot the 105 hybrids so well I won't even think about shooting a different bullet. All customers are using 33.0-33.3 gr of varget with cci 450's. The freebore on my reamer is .140. Even custom savages Ive done them in are shooting under 1/4 moa with the hybrid. Erik, no posting on the savage bit ;)

Thanks for the replies. I will try some of the hybrids out. Just curious as to which of the three seem the most popular as BC is not the best indicator of tunability. Looking forward to playing with the little 6 ! I do wish I had a little more freebore..

There are tools called throating reamers for just that kind of wish fulfillment. I'm about to order one for a 308 barrel I bought from a friend, throated a little short of what I'd prefer it to be.

Word is it's not a lathe operation either; with care it can be done successfully by hand.
