Where to Hunt?

Arizona is getting tougher and tougher to pull a deer tag. I have enough points now to start putting in for some really trophy type hunts and I have just about decided to start doing that until I finally pull one. In the mean time I can help friends, or just predator hunt which is my favorite thing to do anyways. I figure if I save my money I can afford to do a hunting trip about every three years and the wife and I can go hunt something or do something that we normally wouldn't get a chance to do. My question is what areas offer the best over the counter or DIY opportunities for deer or antelope? Not looking for trophies just the adventure and memories with the hope of coming home with a a freezer full of meat. Something within a day or two drive would be fantastic but willing to go anywhere if I can keep the cost around the 5k mark.

I suggest contacting the local game warden and asking his opinion.
When we first started going to SD deer hunting we contacted the GFP officer for the area we were looking at and he helped out tremendously.
He gave us names of ranches to contact with free access in areas with a good population of big bucks.

For many years, I used to go to the area around Beaver, Utah. There is a lot of public land and always quite a few deer. I'm not too familiar anymore with what difficulty pulling tags is. That wouldn't be too far from you.
