Where To Go Next

So I'm in the process of building a 6BR 28" 10-twist. I am fully confident that it will be a nice gun for 100-600 yds, maybe even some good-condition 1000-yd occasionally. Being the anal retentive type I am, I have to go ahead and start planning another build. I'd like it to focus on 600-1000 yard specifically.

Was thinking 6.5x.284........barrel life issue
Maybe 6.5x55........still interesting
How about 30BR.......can it do 1000?

I'll never compete against the big boys. I may compete locally. I've read 326 posts, and now I'm more uncertain than before I read them. What's a girl to do? ,That was an expression, I'm swingin' a pair).

Maybe I should invent a new round???

Yeeeeesh!!!

I never would ask for a setup that would do it for me, but I'd ask for one that would give me a chance to win each time I stepped to the line. For your 6BR I'd definately choose a 8 twist barrel for the 105 to 115 grain bullets. Remember, even if you don't use them your competition will be. For the new build for shooting at 1,000 yards there are all kinds of options, but the one that is winning regularly is the 6.5-284. If I were choosing a caliber and was put off by the 6.5-284 barrel life I'd probably go with the straight 284 winchester. There are some pretty good 7mm bullets available for long range. I believe that either of these calibers will give you an opportunity if you do your part.
